The Senior Health Informatics Analyst is responsible for monitoring of key milestones for hospital data submission, reconciliation, analysis and interpretation of data for public reporting and internal use by TGLN. Reporting to the Director, Hospital Programs, Performance and Evaluation, the Senior Health Information Analyst will assist in identifying opportunities for performance improvements for the donation system for organ and tissue, support decision making and performance management.
Here is what you will be doing:
- Analyses and interprets clinical statistics to assist decision makers in drawing meaningful analysis and conclusions and support decision making such as identifying root causes of performance bottlenecks, data modelling for performance projections and presentations.
- Interprets findings from data analysis to support discussions and preparation of written reports for TGLN management team and Senior Executives, as well as external stakeholders.
- Participates on approved research projects, such as wait time analysis, survival analysis and donor epidemiology, with external partners by providing necessary data analysis.
- Clean data for analyses and establish data quality and quality assurance procedures to ensure high quality and reliable results.
- Determine appropriate data elements, sources and statistical analysis required to respond to stakeholder requests.
- Perform data extraction to meet data requirements of assigned projects and client needs.
- Provide data analysis and interpretation to support decision making by internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform data manipulations and statistical analyses to support program objectives and further in-depth understanding of donation analytics.
- Conduct various types of analyses required to answer general and complex analysis questions (e.g. descriptive analysis, graphics, variance, correlation, advanced and inferential statistics).
- Consults with internal and external clients to ensure data analysis specifications are correct and sufficient to meet client needs.
- Ensures analysis is completed and delivered on time and meets original client request.
- Works closely with the Database to ensure that all clinical data that is required for reporting on organ and tissue donation and transplantation is captured, collected and correctly loaded into the data warehouse.
- Monitors and manages quality control processes to ensure data quality and maintain a robust data warehouse; makes recommendation for data quality improvements.
- Develops data quality audit reports to evaluate data warehouse integrity and makes appropriate recommendations/adjustment to maximize data quality.
- Extracts data from data warehouse and other data sources such as: web stat reports, vendor dashboards or other available reporting tools using standard and customized processes, tools, and procedures.
- Performs other duties consistent with role profile, as required.
Here is what you will need to be successful:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field (biostatistics, statistics or epidemiology) required.
- Master’s degree in Statistics or Biostatistics; or Clinical Epidemiology with 1 to 2 years of relevant experience is preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years of work experience in a health care sector, or a combination of equivalent experience and education.
- Experience with health care indicators (e.g., Key Performance Indicators).
- Experience working with large longitudinal datasets.
- Experience with business intelligence tools and MS Access/Excel/ PowerPoint required.
- Experience with Cognos is preferred.
- Extensive experience with PL/SQL, MSSQL, SAS, TOAD or other data extraction and management tools.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical information and clinical outcomes to support accurate analysis and interpretation of data.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of statistical analysis methods and applications.
- Strong understanding of relational database concepts.
- Demonstrated excellent knowledge of survival and regression analysis.
- Experience working with internal and external stakeholders required.
- Must have strong communication and documentation skills.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
- Self-motivated, detail- and results-oriented.
- Strong ability to take initiative, and work independently, as well as in a team environment.
