The Indigenous Cancer Care Unit aims to improve cancer care for First Nations, Inuit, Métis and urban Indigenous peoples in Ontario. The unit strives to reduce inequities in care and access to cancer services to ultimately improve cancer outcomes. Reporting to the Manager, Indigenous Cancer Care Unit, the role of the Lead is to provide subject matter expertise, advice and leadership on a number of initiatives that will strengthen relationships and improve programs with, and for, Indigenous people in Ontario. This includes, but is not limited to, the following areas of focus: cancer screening, prevention, cancer programs, palliative and end-of-life care, education and equitable access. A major focus of this role will be to lead the development, implementation and monitoring of the First Nations, Inuit, Métis and Urban Indigenous Cancer Strategy (2024-28), including facilitating internal and external partner engagement.
