Labour Relations Specialist
Our non-profit client based in Downtown Toronto is seeking a Labour Relations Specialist for an interim role. In this role, you will be conducting comprehensive analyses of labour relations issues, providing expert advice and recommendations to the management, developing and implement strategies fostering positive relationships between management and labour unions, interpret and apply labour laws, collective agreements, and policies to address disputes and ensure compliance. You will also be involved in conducting research to assist with ongoing negotiations and also be involved in developing effective communication channels with union representatives, fostering open dialogue and problem-solving.
Qualifications
- You have a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field;
- You have more than 5 years of experience as a Labour Relations Specialist, HR Generalist or HR Specialist with focus on labour relations;
- You have or are working towards a professional designation (CHRL, CHRP);
- You have in-depth knowledge of Ontario labour laws, regulations, and industry best practices and collective bargaining processes;
- You have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships at all levels at the organization;
- You are able to work on a hybrid basis (3 days onsite in Downtown Toronto, 2 days remote)- this is non-negotiable;
- You have previous experience working in a unionized environment.
