Our not-for-profit client is seeking a Director of Communications and Marketing for a permanent position leading its communications, marketing, media relations, and public engagement activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement communications, marketing, and public relations strategies.
- Lead the production of publications, campaigns, digital content, and the annual report.
- Oversee the organization’s website, social media channels, and brand standards.
- Build media relationships, respond to inquiries, and advise leadership on sensitive issues.
- Serve as a spokesperson for major announcements and public events.
- Provide communications advice across departments and lead special projects and events.
- Supervise and develop communications staff and contribute to planning and budget discussions.
Qualifications:
- Education in communications, journalism, marketing, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least five years of successful experience in communications, marketing, or public relations, including at least three years supervising staff.
- Experience developing communications strategies and managing media relations and digital channels.
- Knowledge of public policy issues related to race relations, discrimination, and anti-racism.
- Strong writing, judgment, and leadership skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Experience in a not-for-profit or association setting is preferred. Training in race relations, anti-racism, or community engagement is an asset.
