Our not-for-profit client is seeking a People & Culture Advisor for a long-term assignment to coordinate learning and development initiatives, staff events, and day-to-day people and culture activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate training and development programs for staff, management, and Board members.
- Plan staff engagement and team-building events, including scheduling, venue coordination, materials, and communications.
- Support onboarding, recruitment, performance reviews, and other people and culture programs.
- Advise managers and employees on HR policies, workplace accommodations, performance matters, and the application of the collective agreement.
- Support employee and labour relations activities, including investigations, grievances, and work with union representatives.
- Maintain HR records and systems, and assist with benefits administration and employee inquiries.
- Review HR processes and policies and help implement improvements.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three to five years of progressive experience across multiple HR functions; experience in a unionized workplace is preferred.
- Experience interpreting employment legislation and collective agreements.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate programs, events, and competing day-to-day priorities.
- Clear communication skills, sound judgment, and discretion when handling confidential matters.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR systems; experience with an HRIS or applicant tracking system is an asset.
- A CHRP designation, or progress toward one, is preferred.
